Miscues is Not an Excuse ( February 9, 2010 – Tuesday )

We conducted the PHIL. IRI in Grade III SPED in Lopez West Elem. School, Bldg. 1 under the supervision of the section adviser, Mrs. Charito Avila. She is a kind teacher because she entertained us very well. Her pupils are very good reader and answered all the questions well. Through that, I can say that she teaches her class very well. Because her pupils had a satisfaction rating in the reading comprehensive, English and Filipino.

Reader or Non-Reader? ( February 4, 2010 – Friday )

This day, we continued the reading measurement to the pupils of grade IV section I. One thing I realized in this activity is that there are still pupils who are not good reader because there are miscueses that they have committed. The questions attached to the selection was answered, but some of the pupils did not. The teacher were very happy because we lessen their jobs by helping them. Good for us because at least we learned how to conduct PHIL. IRI.

Go For the Reward ( February 4, 2010 – Thursday )

“ Thank you very much we really appreciate your help…I will give you certificate signed by the school officials. “
I am very happy because this day we helped Ma’am Sario and Ma’am Capistrano in PHIL. IRI. We became the facilitator of the grade VI pupils, section SPED in the reading comprehension. There was a certain selection in English subject that I gave to the pupils. The pupils read it and I being the facilitator recorded the miscues or mistakes of the reader. After that, I gave certain questions regarding the selection that they have read and recorded if they committed or did not answered the question. The experience was fun, because we learned how to facilitate the PHIL. IRI.

Call Me By My Name ( February 02, 2010 – Tuesday )

The motivation comes first on the teacher itself . Facial expression, being sweet to your pupils will show it.

Our first day of observation in Bldg. 1 was a good experience. I and my groupmates, Kaye, Viena, Ruffa and Jemimah went to the principal’s good office, Mrs. Clarita Albos, Principal III at 9:30 in the morning as we reported for our first day observation. She is very accomodating and were glad that she shared her knowledge about teaching from traditional to modern, school culture, four pronged approach and many more. We learned so much from her. As we are having our conversation, Ma,am Sario and Ma,am Capistrano came. Ma,am Albos introduced us to them. It’s good that they told us that they oriented us about the PHIL. IRI after we observed in Mrs. Capistrano’s intern, Erika Noscal. At 9:50, we are asked to observe the teaching of the intern, Mrs. Erika Noscal. It was a continuation of her previous lesson which about the parts and functions of a book in the subject of Filipino. I noticed that most of her pupils are not participating in class discussion thinking that the pupils are grade IV and section I. She is not also calling the names of her pupils as she calls them to answer to her questions. She has a powerful voice. It seems that she is mad, a reason for the pupils not to participate in class discussion. Inspite of the negative comments, as a whole, she has a sharp mind because she knows her lessons very well, she did not stutter as she discussed the lesson. There are still rooms for improvement. I know she can do a lot of improvement. Just keep up the good works and accept changes.
